Quick Answer: When should you book senior photos in Omaha?

The best time to book senior photos is:

  • 6 to 12 months in advance

  • At least 6 weeks before your Yearbook Photo is due by your School. (Not sure when this is, contact your school office)

In Omaha, senior photography season fills quickly, especially for outdoor golden hour sessions during:

  • Summer (June–August)

  • Fall (September–October)

If you want the best dates, lighting, and flexibility, booking during your junior year is ideal.

Why timing matters for your senior photos

Booking early is not just about reserving a date. It shapes your entire experience. When you book your senior photography session early, you get:

  • First choice of golden hour dates

  • Access to different flowers, trees, grasses during different seasons

  • More flexibility with weather rescheduling

  • Time to plan outfits without stress

  • Better alignment with yearbook deadlines

  • A more relaxed, intentional experience overall

Senior photos are not something you want to squeeze into an already packed schedule. They should be an experience you look forward to and enjoy! So give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the process!

Best time of year for senior photos in Omaha

Keep in mind that if we are submitting a yearbook photo, your session should be scheduled 4-6 weeks BEFORE your yearbook date. That is the very first piece of info you need to make an educated decision about when to schedule your senior session. After that, I recommend considering the season you want to take them in.

Every season in Omaha offers a different look and feel for senior portraits. The best time depends on your style, personality, and vision. Here are the options below.

Spring Senior Sessions (March-May)

Spring senior sessions are soft, fresh, and natural.

Perfect for seniors who want:

  • Light greens and blooming backgrounds

  • Soft, airy natural light photography

  • A calm session before senior year gets busy

Spring is also a great time for early planners who want everything done before summer. Spring weather in Nebraska can be unpredictable, sometimes requiring rescheduling of your session. Keep this in mind when scheduling and ask for a back up date just in case.

Summer Senior Photos (May-August)

Summer is one of the most popular times for Senior Pictures in Omaha.

Why seniors love it:

  • Long golden hour evenings

  • Warm weather and flexible schedules

  • Vibrant sunsets and bold colors

  • Easy outfit variety

Many students want a summer date before school starts, so this season books quickly, schedule early! My summer sessions are scheduled either first thing in the morning, or around 5pm for the best lighting.

Fall Senior Photos (September-October)

Fall is the busiest and most requested season for Senior Photography in Omaha.

You get:

  • Rich fall colors and golden tones

  • Cozy outfit options like layers and boots

  • Beautiful natural light

  • Classic senior portrait vibes

If fall is your dream season, booking early is essential, this is the most popular option and those dates go quickly since there’s just a few weeks with fall colors in Omaha. Fall weather in Omaha can also be unpredictable, and must start earlier since the sun sets earlier in the day. These sessions usually start around 3:30/4pm.

Winter Senior Photos (November-February)

Winter sessions are less common but can be incredibly unique.

Options include:

  • Minimal, clean outdoor looks

  • Urban senior photography

  • Studio-style portraits

  • Moody, editorial vibes

Winter is great for seniors who want something different or missed earlier booking windows. In Omaha, this is the most unpredictable weather wise and therefore, the least popular option. Please ask for a back up when booking winter dates.
